Metallic strip
Steel strip is a type of rolled steel product manufactured in the form of a solid metal profile. There is no internal void in its cross-section. Steel strip is used in many fields of construction and industry. Various mechanisms and machine parts are made from it, and this rolled metal can also be used as an element of a small welded structure in a fence, grill or small architectural form.
The production of steel staples is regulated by GOST 103-76 and GOST 103-2006.
Its high strength and long service life, along with its versatility, have made it one of the most popular products among consumers. Steel strips are popular in today’s rolled steel market because they are often used in construction as a convenient material for metal structures in projects. The most popular steel strips are those with a width of 20 to 100 mm and a thickness of 4 to 10 mm. Different types of steel are used to produce hot rolled steel strip:
- Carbon structural steel (St10, St20, St35, St45 and St40X);
- Low-alloyed and alloy steel (St09G2, St09G2S, St09G2D, St10KhSnd, St30KhSa);
- Ordinary carbon steel (st0, st1, st2, st3) ;
- Spring and spring steel (St60G, St60S2, St60S2A, St60S2HA, St65, St65G, St70, St70G).
There are several types of steel strips. According to the length of rolled steel, steel strips can be classified as follows:
- Measured length;
- Unmeasured length;
- multiple lengths.
If we categorize the lanes by the way they are rolled, we can distinguish between them:
- Hot-rolled products;
- Cold-rolled products.
- Stripes are divided into two classes according to their sickle shape:
- Sickling does not exceed 0.2% of the length;
- Sickling does not exceed 0.5% of the length.
Steel strips can also be categorized based on the accuracy of their rolling:
- “A” – increased accuracy;
- “B” – normal accuracy.
Depending on the material used, they can be produced in the following ranges:
- strips of phosphoric, low-alloy or carbon steel of ordinary quality – from 3 m to 10 m;
- strips of high-quality carbon and alloy steel – from 2 m to 6 m.
Types of steel staples by material and purpose:
- Hot-rolled steel strip for general purpose (regulated by GOST 103-76);
- The strip is galvanized (regulated by GOST 9.307-89);
- A strip of heat-resistant and corrosion-resistant steel used to manufacture blades for steam turbines (regulated by GOST 18963-73);
- Structural steel strip (regulated by GOST 1577-93 and DSTU 11269-76);
- Hot-rolled strip made of tool steels (regulated by GOST 4405-75, GOST 1435-99 and DSTU 5950-2000);
- Hot-rolled spring strip (regulated by GOST 7419-90);
Hot-rolled broadband steel rolled on universal mills (regulated by GOST 82-70); Hot-rolled strip made from carbon steel used for cladding (regulated by GOST 803-81).
Advantages of rolled steel strips
- High resistance of the product to corrosion (especially in galvanized steel);
- Long service life;
- The versatility of the steel pole;
- Reliability of the material;
- Affordable price.
- Application of the steel stack
Steel strip is considered the most versatile rolled metal material. It is often used in the manufacture of curved structures, pipes and cutting objects. Steel strip is widely used in the construction of both industrial and civil facilities. It is also indispensable in creating decorative finishing elements in design and architecture. Steel strip is used in mechanical engineering and the automotive industry, as well as in the manufacture of springs and embedded parts – metal strips of structural and spring steel grades are used. Steel strip is considered an essential material for furniture production. It can be used for metal forging. It is used to make parts used in the assembly and manufacture of machine tools and machinery. This type of rolled steel is also used in the construction of airplanes. Galvanized strip is used in the electrical industry. High quality galvanizing is achieved by thermal diffusion. Such strips are used as earthing and lightning rods, as the zinc layer protects objects from lightning strikes during thunderstorms.
