Foundation anchor bolts

Foundation bolts are a special part required to hold structures or assemblies by fixing them in a horizontal support base. The bolt has the following structure: a metal stud with external thread on one part and a special device for holding the bolt in the foundation (tapered sleeve, collet, coupling, anchor plate) on the other part. Most bolts are installed before the foundation is poured, but there are also those that are installed in the finished foundation.

The production of foundation bolts is regulated by the national standard GOST 24379.1-80.

According to the standard, fasteners are divided into 6 types:

  • Straight foundation bolts. They consist of a bolt, which can be up to 140 cm long, and a nut. They are the simplest type of this product, but are still very popular, mainly because of their low cost. The bolt is installed into the finished solid foundation and secured with adhesive or cement mortar.
  • The bolt is bent. Structurally, this bolt has the form of a stud on one end, which is threaded and fitted with two nuts (one acting as a lock nut), and the other end of the rod is bent at a 90 degree angle. The products are installed before the concrete is poured, with the bent side down. After the concrete has dried, the bent side of the bolt will not allow it to roll, thus holding it securely in place.
  • Bolt with anchor plate. Structurally, the fastener is in the form of a rod with threads on both ends. At one end there are nuts and at the other end there is an anchor plate held by a lock nut. They are used in both industrial and civil construction. They are often used in side connections.
  • Composite Anchor Bolts. These products are equipped with an additional coupling that allows you to connect two parts of the bolt. The fasteners are used in cases of installation by turning or pushing. First, one part of the bolt with a plate and a coupling is installed in the foundation, after concreting the equipment is installed and screwed into the coupling with the upper part.
  • Foundation bolt with conical end. The products are installed in the finished foundation after a hole has been drilled. The bolt is fixed in two ways: with the help of collets or with cement mortar. These bolts are used for structures subject to vibrations.
  • A Sad Foundation Bolt. The anchor is installed in a concrete, brick or stone foundation. The bolt is installed by pouring the anchor part first and then installing the stud after the foundation is in place.
